I have a Taurus 94SS 4" that has been dead reliable. The .44 is in a whole other class though.
I had a blued 4" Taurus 94 that from the beginning would only fire 3 of the 9 rounds every cylinder full, then it completely locked up.I sent it back and they sent me a new gun but this time a 4" 94SS,and that one wouldn't misfire, but after 1,500 rounds through it over about a month,it locked up and the transfer bar fell out in my hand. For me personally I wouldn't buy a Taurus in .44 mag,or any other caliber of revolver made by them.

It depends if you like power then you want the 44, but if you want a good back up gun with accuracy then you want the 357 both good revolvers but the 44 recoils like a mule unless you have the right hold on one.
