Default Difference in recoil

This may be a dopey question, but I'm curious. What is the difference in recoil in a .44 special vs something else such as a .38 spc, .40 s&w or .45 apc? I've wanted a .44 for some time but couldn't justify the purchase or the cost of ammo. My .44 black powder revolvers have little recoil, but I figure that smokeless powder will change that. Thanks for the info.

Dave

.44Spl is one of the sweetest firing rounds you will find. Comparable to a .45ACP in a revolver.

Bullet weight, powder charge "rate of burn", caliber, size and weight of the handgun, will all have an effect on the "felt recoil". Cowboy loads in .44 in a N-frame revolver have less felt recoil than a .357 Magnum self defense load in a K-frame revolver.

When you reload, you have control of most factors.
