Colt Official Police .38 Special

Colt Official Police .38 Special
Found this gun today at a LGS. Owner said it belonged to an Ohio State Trooper. Original grips are in poor condition. Bluing is worn because of being holstered. The barrel is in excellent condition barely looks shot. They are asking $375. Because of the grips and excessive bluing wear I offered $325 he declined and didn't counter offer. Am I missing something or should I go back and buy it at $375.

Too much, Maybe 150 so you can spend money on new grips and finish. Does it even fire? Did you check the barrel and cylinders? Sorry, I hope I am not preaching to the choir. If so, my apologies.

Beagle,

Sounds like too much to me!
For the condition it is in!

Any sales tax?

I am not an authority, but unless there is some other intrinsic value, it would need to be stainless for me to go $375. Maybe $375 out the door, after tax.

Barrel and cylinders are in excellent condition, barely looks like it has been shot very little.

Still too much for me. Do you really want? That is what is important. This could be a fun project if you put more money into it.

Saw one at a local gunshop, good condition, for $325.00. Of course, that was before the currrent hystera.

I'd jump on it,, Colt revolvers ,, like the older S&W's,, have been going for premium prices her in n.w. Ohio. The last Official Police I saw went for much higher than 375 and I was very surprised that it sold in less than a couple of weeks I believe a lot of Colts and Smith's are being bought up and going in safes for speculation,, I haven't even seen an older Model 10 Smith on sale anywhere for a decent price. I would snatch it up,, it will go up in price in my opinion even if it is a shooter.

I wouldn't do it for $375. If he didn't counter offer, then he's counting on being able to sell it. Maybe he's already seen several people interested in it...

Old, poor condition of the grips and bluing, I wouldn't go over $300. I don't give a flying rat F**K if it is a Colt.
