.44 mag is more than good enough for most (if not all) handgun applications. It's comfortable, versatile and easily/commonly re-loadable. The other one I would be tempted by is the .460 XVR. The ability to shoot 3 different factory loads (.45 Colt, .454 Cassul, .460 S&W) makes it very appealing.
