Cherry Broken.
Shot that S&W 500 yesterday. It was a "moving" experience. My hat moved, my glasses moved, the guy in the next lane moved, but my bowels didn't. Forkin' suh-WEEET!

I have a friend that has one (got it as a debt payment from a family member) and have been working on a trade.
After shooting it I wonder why would I need this?
The only answer was to set next to the DE 50 in the safe.
No need for this pistol with the exception you already expressed.
Fun to shoot every now and then.

The guy walked in and shot the "X" completely out of the target with the 1st round at 21'. I told him that it was easy when you have a 20' barrel! I'd have to take a second job (seriously) to shoot that thing as much as I shoot my 9mm, and at some point would probably have to employ a chiropractor, but it's funner'n hell to shoot.

I had a chance to shoot one of the snubby 500's. The guy let me shoot one round. My left hand flew off the grip and my right arm lifted almost vertically and it took quite a while for the smile to leave my face.
Fun to shoot, expensive to shoot and only good for a head shot on Bigfoot.

The one I'm working on getting has an 8" barrel, it is fun to shoot but won't come to the range often. It is 94 cents a round to pop.

If you get a chance, "try" shooting a Smith & Wesson 329PD. It'll make you appreciate the 500 Magnum...
I bought a 329PD about 6 months ago. It is (by far) the most brutal pistol I have ever shot, way worse than a 500 Mag! Even after putting 500 Magnum cushioned backstrap grips on it, I could only comfortably fire six rounds.

I've been wanting a bigger pistol and I've thought about a 460 but the funds aren't there. I'm thnking maybe a 44 mag but haven't decided.
Glad you had fun with it, wish I could have squeezed a few off!
