Default Charter Arms Revolvers

Hey everybody! I'm just doing some research on Charter Arms and I'm looking for peoples' opinions on their hardware. Please post a review of your Charter revolver, your experiences shooting a Charter, or just any feedback you have about the company. Thanks!

I bought a 38sp ultra lite a few years back for 250 dollars new. Change to a wolff hammer spring and ran around 400 rounds thru it. My daughter decide she liked it and now CC's it. Ain't no fun shooting +P ammo but it works fine. Not as nicely finished as old first series charter arms and from what I see with prices today find and buy a nice used 642 or 442 s&w in the same price range as a new charter arms.

My mother has one in .38 and really likes, I shot it along with many other people and everyone seems to like it too. For the money they are nice revolvers but do not expect it to be a smooth as a smith and Wesson.

Shot a Bulldog 44 spl that a friend had. I liked it enough that I'm seriously considering getting one of my own.

I've never owned a Charter, but I've fired a few.
I think they're fine revolvers, and I'd buy one if I came across one at a decent price.
They did go through a period of poor quality control after the original company went bankrupt in the early 1990s, but that probably only lasted a few years under Charco ownership.
Doug McClenahan (? sp) also developed the transfer bar safety system for his original revolvers, which Ruger and later, everybody else adopted.

A few facts about the company :

They acrue all the parts needed to manufacture their weapons within a 60 mile radius of the plant ( which I think is huge as they support their local economy )

American company

Repairs go right on the main production line right next to new manufactured products not some understaffed over worked repair section so generally turn around if you do need something repaired is a week or less. And often they pay for shipping both ways
