A mean flash/blast even with the then common .44 spec loads. Recoil was awesome to say the least. I was/am not particularly recoil sensitive but it was to much for me to enjoy shooting it, and the wife? Not a chance. Replaced it with one of the earliest Colt Officer's ACP- this was mid-80's. Had to get different springs and replace a front sight that struck out on it's own.. but definitely easier than that ol Charter .44. Again, back then .44 spec were downloaded for older revolvers. Nowadays, the .44 stuff they market would likely knock yer fillings loose. JMO, YMMV!
