I was considering picking up a Charter Arms Bulldog Pug in .44 special. Anyone got one? How do you like it?

I've owned a few different Charter Arms made guns, an AR-7, not bad, a Little rought, a Charter Arms .38 Undercover Model, Lite Duty but OK! I have had a few 44's by Charter, an Older one in Blue steel, it was a bit roughly machined, but never failed to operate! I got a Newer one years later in Stainless steel, before charter went under and man was it BAD! Once trigger broke another time had all sorts of inteternal problems! I'd think long and hard before I bought even a new one? Just my .02! Plus, .44 Special ammo is a chore to find locally and I don't re-load that caliber?

I would choose a taurus over charter,the charter arms are NOT designed nowhere near as strong and are meant to be carried-not shot much.

David Berkowitz carried an 1970's model Bulldog .44 Sp. and nobody ever heard him complain of the low quality. As far as I know, his went "bang" every time he pulled the trigger

My ancient Bulldog is still barking out 240 grn cast bullets over 9 grn of BlueDot for years now. I have no idea as I don't keep records on this fishing tackle box gun how many I have shot but it has been a bunch! My wife has been shooting it a lot lately and likes carrying it over the stainless Rossi she has.

Bought Mrs Freefall a Target Bulldog .44 sp in 1977. She still has it on her nightstand. Hasn't shot it a lot, but it shoots ok. It's put together with drift pins-not screws. The pins tend to migrate a little. Personally, I'd buy a Ruger. SP 101 or an old Speed Six. I love my Security Six. Always looking for a deal on another one. Luck.

since charter Arms re orginazied its new company with new guns etc they are strong & dependable and priced right, I picked up a new one last year and its my daily carry gun most of the time, easy to hide, lightweight etc great gun and accurate with all factory ammo

+1 on the Charter (New company) Not real pretty but goes bang every time with good accuracy

I have the original charter house bull dog 44 spl made in the early 70's.
Mine has operated flawlessly .It weighs 21oz. empty how can you hate it ?
I paid $217 for mine as I wanted a powerful big bore revolver.My next one
will be S&W MODEL 29 44 mag as I like big and slow bullets.
