It is the hottest snubbie for a reason! When we were looking for her, it was really hard not steering her into the LCR. She really liked the shiny look of the 642 (no pink for her...). If it was for me, I would have gone LCR357 all the way.

My wife carries a 642ct, I have one without the ct grips. The Ruger LCR is worth a look as well.

She decided on the LCR. She just loved the weight and grip of the LCR. She got it today. Haven't shot it yet though.

Best thing to do is to let her check out several makes/models, and select what works for her. When I took my (now ex-) wife to get her first gun, back in the '90s the gunshop owner tried to sell her a Raven .22. I made a crack about if you shoot somebody with that you'll piss him off. The shop owner was miffed, but she looked at several guns, then chose a Dan Wesson model 744VH - a big, heavy .44 mag with interchangable barrels, 4", 6", and 8". She loved going to the indoor range lookin' all demure and innocent (she was 5'4" and weighed 115 lbs), then when some smartass in the lane next to her tried to scare her with the noise of his .357, she'd just smile and squeeze off a few rounds of .44 mag. She could even hit what she was shootin' at. She usually carried it with the 4" barrel. But when she was in the boonies she'd carry it with the 6" barrel installed. When she was doin' Silhouette competition or huntin' hawg, the 8" barrel. She also later got a Taurus PT-101 and a Para Ordnance Warthog, which she then carried most of the time 'cuz the Dan Wesson was kinda hard to conceal.
