Break In Period?

when I first got my Ruger Old Army, I was shooting it and it was sooo off target even at 10 yards, like 12-15 inches off at first, why is that? It was brand new, and is there a break in period for this gun? Because I was first shooting it with the .45 Colt cartridge conversion cylinder, and it was really hard to get on the target, is it because of the high recoil? I was just asking because after 100 rounds, I started punching 1/2 holes in 50 yds, I just don't get it???

Break in

It may be that your loading procedure has gotten more consitent. You may have found the proper amount of powder to make the gun shoot well.

Shooter break-in period maybe?

Curious about the load you used in conversion cylinder? Where did you get one anyway? Blackpowder loads I presume?
