I am wanting to get a 1851 colt navy bp revolver and am stuck between two different brands. Pietta and Uberti. I have looked up reviews on both and they pretty much say that Uberti is slightly better than Pietta because their pieces fit together tighter and have a better finish. This comes at a cost of nearly $200 more than the Pietta. My question is which one would you pick for a range gun (maybe competition just for fun)? Is Uberti's slightly better quality worth that much more money for a just for fun gun?

I have the Pietta. Mine is the brass frame. I like it. It was a gift from my wife. That said, if I get another one it will be one that I don't have to remove the barrel from the frame to clean it. I like the steel frame one better too. They can handle a much heavier load. If you just want to shoot a little and have fun the Pietta is fine. If you want to shoot hot loads or maybe get one of those conversion kits get something else. You really do get what you pay for.
