I've got a reproduction 1851 colt navy .36 cal. I was wondering whats a proper amount of black power to use in it?

For .36 cal, you can solder a piece of heavy wire on to a .38 special case and use that as a measure.

The internet is your friend in this case. Search for info on the revolver itself and research for info on black powder revolvers. Black powder is great fun, but you need to know what you're doing or bad things can happen.

If it's a brass frame 15 grains is about as hot as you want to go. A steel frame you can't overload but 20-25 grains are normal loads. If you use Triple 7 you want to back off 15%.

Thanks for the better info Hawg. I don't do a whole lot of black powder shooting and I just know what works for me.

Thanks ! I dont have a manual for it got it from a friend . It is a steel frame . I had been shooting aroind 15 grain in it thanks alot for the info and ill get over to the introduction page here after bit and post. Thanks again Jesse
