Black powder revolver ?

I've got a reproduction 1851 colt navy .36 cal. I was wondering whats a proper amount of black power to use in it?

Do you have a manual?

For .36 cal, you can solder a piece of heavy wire on to a .38 special case and use that as a measure.

The internet is your friend in this case. Search for info on the revolver itself and research for info on black powder revolvers. Black powder is great fun, but you need to know what you're doing or bad things can happen.

BTW, welcome here. Please head over to the Introduction forum and introduce yourself to the folks.

If it's a brass frame 15 grains is about as hot as you want to go. A steel frame you can't overload but 20-25 grains are normal loads. If you use Triple 7 you want to back off 15%.

Thanks for the better info Hawg. I don't do a whole lot of black powder shooting and I just know what works for me.

I probably know more about black powder revolvers than anything else but I'm by no means an expert.
