Any idea what the first one is? I think the bottom is a colt .45 but not 100%. They are my grandfathers and I've only seen the pics I just posted. Haven't gotten a chance to look at them in person.

My uncle claims one is from 1847.

The top one is a fairly new RG or similar low priced revolver. The bottom one could be a colt model 1873. If it is it was made after they changed to the newer style cylinder pin retainer(around 1897 or so the change took place). Need a better picture.

Niether one is from 1847, one looks like a colt, and the pearl one looks like a high standard or something, the colt I believe is this century, from the bakelite grips. The other have no idea, high standard as the brand is a wild guess. Iver johnson comes to mind for the pearl gun too.

But there cool non the less. I suspect they are post war guns probly,1947

We REALLY need better pictures. Just not enuf pixels when we enlarge them to see details.

I agree neither is from 1847, since cartridge arms were not yet born (1857 for the .22 rimfire, 1872 for the Colt 45)

Agree that upper revolver is an inexpensive gun- probably not RG, but Iver Johnson or Harrington & Richardson may be strong candidates.

Agree the bottom is a Colt revolver, caliber uncertain- they were made in several. Grips are not bakelite- that was known as a hard rubber grip, and was in use in the 1870s on.

I went out to his house and the smaller one is a H&R 9 shot 22 and the other is stamped sept 18 1871. It's a .45 caliber colt. Everything is in good working order still after all these years.

It was passed through the generations. It was his grandfathers grandfathers. He bought it in Texas





The other is his kabar from Vietnam.

The Colt wasn't made until after 1896. That's when the spring loaded cylinder latch came into being.

That's a set of cool family heirlooms, my family throws or sells evrything so the only heirloom ill get is my good looks.

It's stamped 1871. There is another date on it that I can't read stamped underneath that one. January something 18 something.

Cobra, those are patent dates. They are ALWAYS earlier than the date a gun was made.
