Yeah, but that thing is sweet anyways. I've actually really been dying for a 57/657. Saw one in Boulder this weekend for $825, but I gotta make some room first.

Lots of good choices, and people have preferences -- there are Smith guys, Colt guys, Ruger guys......

I recommend you find a way to take a few shots (borrow, rent) one each of the following:
Smith J-frame, K-frame, L-frame -- Ruger GP100 and SP101 -- Colt if you can, Colt revolvers are getting harder to find all the time.

I have a S&W model 19 and a Python. I love them both, but if I was forced to choose I'd go with S&W. However I know a lot of Ruger lovers.
