Many handgunners are suffering from bone damage in the hands and wrist. The big super magnums are causing hair line fractures to many shooters. This can become a very painful condition. I wear a padded glove while shooting these handguns.

a good set of grips helps too. how well it fits your hand has lot to do with controlling recoil.

Axx I think modern handguns are on the edge of what a human hand can with stand. I have a friend who has had surgery from a 500 S&W, The Doc thought it was from runing a Jack Hammer. He never told them it was a handgun you never know about insurance,

This is a great thread and nitestalket is right, I first heard about nerve damage and hair line fractures AFTER,the 454 Casul came out. Great marketing and people were buying them w/o knowing they bite at both ends..

What brand or model of glove do you use ? Most I've seen have very little padding or gel. G&A had an article on this topic and they said Elmer rationed his hot 44 loads to approx 600 a year.

IMHO - I'm not sure Elmer rationed anything but it was an interesting read. I'm using a weight lifters glove right now and it's not very effective.

Ruger Alaskan - very specific niche - fisherman & hikers in Bear Territory. A snubbie on steroids doesn't do it justice. When pepper spray runs out & the bluffs are over...

Loads: light 44 Specials should be fine for range work - 45 LC for the 454.

Great Marketing - when 454 Casul first came out they had video of a hunter who shot a lion w one. Absolutely insane.

Harbor Freight has some neat padded gloves for people who use hammers. These are good and not expensive. I have damage to my right hand but no contant pain.
