For a newbie, you sure developed an opinion really fast.

Well,

I have done tons of research, and just took an NRA class recently for pistols.

So, I guess now I am putting my life in danger for choosing a .38 over a .357 for home defense? You guys are funny!

More than a few of us have years of EXPERIENCE owning & shooting a wide variety of pistols. Real experience does pale in comparison to internet research though...

NGIB,

I understand that...I really do. I have to do much more shooting and target
practicing.

No one said you will be putting your life in danger by choosing .38. What everyone is alluding to is there is a better choice that gives you more options and can be more effective.

Go ahead and buy the .38 it will work and had for years. Enjoy!

By the way, it all started with your statement that read "These handguns will be for fun, recreational range shooting, NOT home defense or to carry......" remember?

First of all, a "safe" neighborhood is a hunting ground for predators. Happy, safe middle class neighborhoods are where they go to steal the good stuff. No place is entirely safe, just less dangerous than others. Where are thieves supposed to go when they are through preying on those around them?
Secondly, why would you suddenly get judgmental about those who try to give advice? Ok, fine, you don't feel you need a .357 for HD. No need to get snippy with those who feel it's legitimate choice. I don't know about the modern versions of the Glasers, but I know some years ago there was a question of penetration through heavy clothing. I tend to be in the bigger chunk of lead camp.
As to people being trigger happy, your reading it wrong. Opinions are are free but when post here, you are getting the voice of a lot of experience in many cases. Just because you don't like an answer doesn't mean it's not true.

Overkill,

You are being way too sensitive. I respect everyone's opinions here.

I call it agreeing to disagree. Its strictly one man's opinion, thats all.

That's the kind of attitude you need on this forum. Frankly, you will be pushed on here to see how you react to having your opinions challenged just to see what your made of.

The members on this forum like to have fun and enjoy each other's company. But when it comes down to brass tacks, firearms are very serious business. And no one wants any "mall ninjas" around who are going to take their ball and go home if their feelings get hurt.

Actually, I agree with Overkill...here's your words...

"Too many cowboys that almost seem like they are looking forward to using their hand gun to kill an intruder. Its like you are rooting for it to happen."

"You really are expecting an armoured gang of 5 thugs to be breaking into your home? I mean come on guys. lets be serious here."

"You guys are funny! "

I am in the impression that you are trolling but we have been very civil with you still.
