Well congrats on admiting that! Most won't----
If you can afford the ammo---PRACTICE
If not as mentioned- start with a lesser caliber

It sounds to me like right now that 44 Mag is simply too much gun for you. Why not shoot something like a .38 Special or .357 Mag and work on your grip and stance? Learn to be a safe and accurate handgun shooter before you go for the power. You can't make up for poor shooting with a bigger round.

Did you know a .44 magnum revolver will chamber and fire the much easier to handle .44 special round? It does, and its a great caliber with very little kick, less than even a .357 with the right round.

I went to the shooting range the other day and I tried the leather gloves and it helped a little and I found out that last time i didnt hit paper and this time I would of put someone in a world of hurt in the chest if they were in fround of me. My pattern was in a 6-10 in circle.

Keep practicing and discuss the .44 special ammo with the firearm owner again. The "special" ammo shouldn't have any ill effects on the firearm.

background on the .44 special: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.44_special Notice the part about how Mr. Keith developed the .44 magnum from the .44 special.
