What's a good price on factory ammo? I'm clueless, dad asked me to look around today. Thing is, he won't shop online. Told me what he saw at sportsmans warehouse was $2 a round. He has the stuff to reload, but hasn't in years.

I was never much of a hand gun shooter and only owned a couple. Then, about 3 years ago I saw an SBH, 5 1/2in barrel, SS, Acusport in .41 at a gun show. I always wanted a blackhawk and had read some about the 41. This gun had been tuned by a smith and has a 2 1/2lb trigger pull. It came home with me and is a fantastic shooter. I shoot mostly lead in it. Then I stumbled across a Tarus Tracker in 41 that a fellow employee wanted to sell and I got it. Then A couple of months ago I saw a model 57 from 1977 at a gun show and bought it. This old S&W is one sweet gun.
I do reload so I can afford to shoot the 41 some. I use both Unique and AA#9 and mostly XTP's and 215 gr lead bullets from Missouri Bullet Co. I may try some plated bullets for economy.
I think I am through buying 41's unless I stumble across a Marlin lever gun at an affordable price.
I have started shooting 38's and 357's some but the .41 is by far my favorite.

A Marlin .41 Mag lever action at an "affordable" price? Man are you dreaming. I have lusted after those for years, but am unwilling to give my left one for it.

I personally like the .41 mag very much, my first was a S & W Model 57 with an 8 3/8" barrel. It shot great but had to sell it during my first divorce,, now they are hard to find and at premium prices. I now have a stainless Ruger Redhawk and a Blackhawk that started as a 4 /8" but I sent it out to Gary Reeder and had it rebarreled to 5 3/4 so I can legally hunt in Ohio using it. Topped with a 2X Weaver it is extremely accurate and my favorite hunting handgun having taken deer and feral hogs, If someone wants work done on a Ruger, I would reccomend Mr. Reeder very highly, his service was timely and I may send the Redhawk in for some work here in the future. Even after the sale, Mr, Reeder likes to make sure his clients are satisfied and wants you to keep in touch. I am also looking for a decent Reminton Rolling block action to rebarrel to .41 mag. I have found a couple of Marlin leverguns but the prices were crazy high. I have good luck with 215 grain hardcast, but I have had suggestions on 170 grain loads up to 250 grain cast. Except for the bigger varmints, I feel the .41 is a good load and I have high confidence with my revolvers.

Hello
I have always been a Fan of the .41 Magnum Cartridge and what better revolver to own in it is the Manufacturer that developed and Promoted it back in 1964 S&W. They made Two back then being the first a model 57 with adjustable sights and later on the model 58 with Fixed sights. I prefer an adjustable sight Target revolver so I found a 4" Nickel version. She shipped in the mid 1970's and shoots like a Lazer. The .41 Magnum round never really caught on good. One reason for that is that S&W had came out with the .44 Magnum in their Pre-29's in 1956 so the .44 Magnum had a head start on it's slightly smaller brother being the .41 Magnum which was Introduced in 1964. This round was originally designed to be the perfect Police round.

Sometime between Remington introdcuing the round and offering it for Public sale it was down Loaded. I suspect to Keep the Liberals happy as this round Loaded right is as fierce of not more fierce than the .44 Magnum. I hand load so it was the right round for me and the only difference I see between the .41 Magnum compared to the .44 Magnum is that the .41 Magnum is 0.019" smaller in Bullter diameter and shoots a Little flatter. Long live the .41 Magnum and those of us that hand load and love it. Regards, Hammerdwon

First magnum handgun I ever shot was a .41 Blackhawk. I was a pretty scrawny boy, firing some how loads. My wrists were sore for quite a while but I loved to shoot the gun.

I did have a 57 for a while in the nineties right after college, but I didn't reload so I sold the gun. It's actually probably my biggest gun sale regret. The gun shot pretty sweet as I recall.

170 grain hp's stoked up with w296 or H110 makes for a great groundhog load. Took a groundhog's head completely off with this load. Only thing left above the neck was his lower jaw. Talk about a swift merciful kill.

My 1st experience with a 41 mag was last fall, a neighbor friend of mine let me shoot his, It a nice caliber, it lets you know it's there. but it's managable. His is a ruger but I don't remeber the specifics. We're going to get together again and try some handloads once he gets his reloading room set up.

I have a blackhawk in .41.love that gun. Used to carry it on a ranch, so it's has a lot wear. I had to put larger grips on it. It's always been super accurate for me and has been my go to handgun .
It has several coyotes, badgers, muskrats and jackrabbits under its a belt as well as a few cows that needed to be dispatched.
