I've got a Ruger gp100 .357 magnum in stainless. Beautiful gun. Too heavy to carry concealed (in not a big guy and it prints easily) but it shoots hot .357s beautifully. Such a nice gun. Put some .38s in it for practice and it feels like shooting a .22. My wife had never shot before, and I let her start with .38s in it and she loved it. She easily shot hot magnum loads in it no problem. Always had good luck with anything Ruger.

from my Speer #9 a .38 max load of 11gr of 630 and the 110 hp is 1148fps,321me.
in 357 it`s 17gr ,1524fps and 654me.
that 1/10 of an inch make some serious power.

What model is that? I do not like the new j frames look being shrouded or hamerless,I much prefer the look of classic smiths.

I do however like that one you have there.

When is the last time you saw 630 powder on the shelf?

I was looking for the shrouded hammer model Airweight for my wife but we just cannot find one, I found this model 637 and bought it for myself. I think she has decided since we have this one , we are ok. I also bought a CZ 83 in .380 which fits me better than the PPK I had so I sold the PPK yesterday.

Sarg1c: The .38 Super and .38 ACP cartridge cases are semi-rimmed, not rimless and headspace on the semi-rim, not the case mouth.

Rimless .38 Super Competition cartridge cases are available from Starline and some other manufacturers, and do headspace on the case mouth.

]Why do some revolvers need half moonb clips if they headspace off the case mouth?

Everybody knows that the .38 Special is actually .357", and the .44 is actually .429". And the .38-40 is .401" more or less. It's sort of like learning Latin.

Fulll and half moon clips are required for rimless cartridges (i.e. 9mm Parabellum, .45 ACP) used in revolvers so empties can be ejected.

Half moon or fulll moon clips used with rimmed or semi-rimmed cartridges facilitate quicker loading and more positive ejection of empties, particularily in competition. There are conversions availabale for adapting cylinders for rimmed cartridges
(.38 Special, .357 Magunm, .44 Special, etc) to use full and half moon clips.(http://www.pinnacle-guns.com/revolver.asp).
