Default 38 s&w special ctg

Looking for a little info on this S&W 38. Serial # 146xx. Right side has S&W trademark . Has a 5 in barrel, nickel plated, pearl grips. Top of barrel Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass USA July 1 84 on first line. Second line April 19 89 May 21 95 July 16 95 Aug 4 96 Dec 22 96 Oct 4 98. On the left and right side of these two lines is what looks like a Maltese cross. Just trying to find out when this gun was made, how long they were made, if they had a model or name.

I have an early Smith with similar markings. It is a Smith and Wesson Hand Ejector, probably a second or third model, I'm not enough of an expert to tell you which. Mine was made in 1903. It's the great granddaddy of the Model 1
