This is my two cents, if you miss the target, it doesn't matter if you over penetrate or not, the bullet is going to hit what it will hit. Both guns pack enough wallop for most applications, so get whichever one you can hit better with.

I agree!! Both will get the job done, especially for home defense! The 357 is my choice, little easier to shoot, cheaper to shoot, especially with 38 rounds!! Just a funnier gun to enjoy for everyday carry and range practice!!

Very true, even at close range I imagine that at the end of a home invasion, your six shot revolver will be empty and you might have 2 hits on the BG.

Agree with most.... have all the "Big 3" mags and have owned .357's....I still like the .44s better. Full house on down to creampuff loads...all good...all effective. I still keep a .41 mag Blackhawk on the nightstand!!

[ I'm betting that 2 hits from a 357 at close range would be good enough to get him to the next world!! I'm thinking more like 3 or 4 out of six!! But that does raise an interesting question!! What if 3 or 4 BG?? Which more than justifies the need for high capacity. I have a little something for that occasion as well!! It's my opinion that 1 gun, no matter what is, will not ideally take care of every possible situation!! I own 4, 2 carry and 2 that sort of just collect dust in my safe, but they have there purpose-

the 44 can be very pleasant to shoot if you reload and use 44 Spl. cases. if you reload, they are very cost effective to shoot. and the more you shoot the better you become with the pistol. becoming good with a pistol only comes with lots of practice and lots of trigger time. also with reloading, you can reload Magnum cases at lower levels to adjust yourself to more recoil in degrees. starting off with hot Magnum loads will make you recoil shy in a hurry!

Lol, 44 mag is so successful against grizzly that people came up with new more powerful cartridge/gun combinations.

44 magnum is enough anything more is a waste of money and over doing it, 300 grain up to 360 grain will do it
