I found the 686 in a small pawn shop. I went back a few weeks latter and it was still there. They were asking somewhere around $700. I put 4 one hundred dollar bills on the counter and he said the boss would not accept that. I put down another $25 and still no luck. I put down another $25 (for a total of $450) and he said let me call the boss. They hadn't sold any guns for quite a few days so he said OK.
The sights that came on the 686 are good for target work. The XS tritium big dot sights are a fast acquisition combat sight. The rear sight blade has a V cut. The trigger was fine, almost like it had a custom job, but I wanted it better. I've had all my handguns reworked, both match and carry. I have Crimson Trace grips on the M&P 40 and the Para 7-45 LDA and will install them on the 686. I'm always on the lookout for someone that needs cash bad and is trying to sell a gun or two for a very low price. My wife says that I don't need any more, but I like to have a good selection for our students to try to help them decide what would suit them best. The GP100 is also one of the guns we recommend for carry (over the GP101)I don't believe in buying a gun for carry. The only reason to carry a handgun is to have it available if you ever need to use it so buy a gun to shoot! |

I bought a 686 w/ 5' barrel about 7 years ago.... perfect balance, very good quality (S & W) of course. Now my wife calls it "her" gun. Oh well, I still like it. |

Smith & Wesson Model 19. Whatever barrel you want. Cane, are any of those yours? Linda still has a 4" stainless python from when she first became a cop, it just sits in the safe now, they say it's pretty rare now. __________________ "I never killed anyone who didn't need killing."

It's the last "must have" open check box on my bucket list.
Linda's safe queen isn't worth much, ask her if she wants to sell it?

+ 1 I've had mine since the late 80's and shot it loose I will get around to having it rebuilt one day when the funds are available; a very Fantastic revolver!

In short if I had the money I could buy any pistol I want with out a wait period and not have to add it my carry license.
I owned more than a dozen pistols before the sail boat accident when all were lost and my state wasn't concerned with wich one I was packing.

It's like this in MI. as well.
