I think the rule is you can own a handgun if you are 18, but I think it has to be a gift from a family member or something like that. You can't purchase a handgun until 21.

Do you know if it is a single action or double? Does it look like a gun a cowboy would carry or different. Colt made a number of models that vary a lot in value.If it has been shot a lot already as long as you take care of it and dont pack it around in a holster your not going to wear it out like already said and I would shoot hell out of it.
