Which 22lr?

My grandfather is supposed to be sending me an old colt revolver in 22lr, I'm not possitive what the model is. I got to thinking that instead of shooting the colt all the time I could just get a cheap revolver to shoot in the back yard, any thoughts on the brand/model?

If the old Colt is in good working order why not shoot it? It's not like you can shoot the things out or anything.

As to others? All my 22 handguns are autos. I'd really like one of the KL22 or mod 17 Smiths. Ruger Single Six or maybe the single 10? I love a High Standard Double 9. I'm sure I'm overlooking several. I'm sure some one more knowledgeable in 22 revos will chime in though.

The thing is I'm not sure the condition of the colt yet, pluss you can never have too many guns ;)

If you want a cheap but decent .22 revolver, take a look at a Heritage Rough Rider. They're not even close to Ruger Single Sixes but they are good back yard guns and cheap too. They used to be owned by Americans in Florida but they got bought by Taurus earlier this year.

Let me be sure i have this right-
You're getting your 1st gun (22 at least) from your Grandfather
You know near nothing about it (cud be in excellent shape)
You haven't received it yet but wanting a second 22 to shoot just in case

Color me silly but i'd get the first before worring about the second

Ill wait to see what it looks like before I get another. It is not my first gun he has sent me two rifles and they are old but in perfect condition, my dad shot this pistol allot when he was a kid but he doesn't remember what it was or what condition it was in back then

A good centerfire pistol, rifle and a shotgun need to be in your collection too ;)

I'm not 21 yet so I can't own a pistol but my grandfathers sending me a 12 ga and a remington .280
