I respectfully disagree, the LCR22 is a lot of fun to shoot. My first outing with mine I put over 300 rounds through it, only stopping when I ran out of ammunition. I own several 22 calibre revolvers but for under $500 your choices can be limited. The LCRs can be had for around $400 and are very underated. I wasn't expecting much out of mine and was pleasantly surprised. Its a great fun gun.

The older Charter Arms Pathfinders (3" & 4") are pretty good guns. Heavy DA pulls but very smooth and light SA pulls. They come up for sale regularly.

I've got a Taurus 92 that is fun to shoot. 9 rds and a 4" barrel. It is the small frame though. I don't have large hands and it is still a little small. My 11 year old shoots it all the time. He does well with it. The sights on it are very nice.

If you're sure you're set on getting him a revolver, I'd go with the S&W 17 or 617. They are solid well made revolvers that will fill his hand. Otherwise I'd go with one of the Ruger semis in 22 -- MK III, 22/45, etc....they're a blast to shoot!

Oh my "cousin" was my hubs. I used this account and story to hopefully get his input on a revolver so I would know what to get him. He posted pics on here tonight, jjfuller is his screen name. Check it out.
