1895 Nagant Questions
I've been looking for a new toy. But mainly my first pistol. Now I'm not a man of money but I have a hankering for historical items. So I ran into a Nagant Revolver with a nice shiny bore from the Izhvesk factory in Russia.

So can you tell me much about it? If anything?

I have one. I too bought it for the historical value and was surprised at how good of a shooter it was. The ammo is an off caliber (7.62 x 38R) and is kind off odd looking but available. It is however fairly pricey. There are aftermarket .32 cylinders that are available. The bullets have to be loaded one at a time and ejected one at a time because the cylinder does not slide out like the common revolver.

It has an unusual gas seal that is formed as the cylinder moves forward as the gun is cocked. This is supposed to increase muzzle velocity. One of the downsides is the 13lb single action and 20lb double action trigger.

Here is a comparison picture of the ammo

That is quite the trigger pull. How does 30 bucks for 50 rounds sound?

Anywhere from $25-$30 is about average for that caliber unfortunately.

I've got one that I got just because it was cheap. Pretty nice gun actually. Well made, and oddly comfortable in my hand. I thought it would feel like holding a broomstick, but it fooled me. The D/A trigger is pretty rough, but the S/A isn't really BAD. Just not good.

I've never shot it. Probably never will.
