I'm debating on one of these two .38's for my 3-1/16" SP101. Which one would you pick to stop a bad guy?

i've herd that NYC cops use speer gold dots, so living in NY, that is what i also carry

The Gold Dot is very hard to beat in any caliber. They are able to fine tune the jacket thickness for the intended velocity. The Gold Dot is a true "bonded core" bullet as the jacket is plated (thickly). Conventional jacket material is limited as to thickness, the plated has no limit as to thickness. Gold Dots retain all or nearly all of their weight for proper penetration and almost no fragmentation. They never shed their jackets. If some jacket material is boken off, it always takes some core with it. The soft core is very difficult to convince to separate.
