Hello - Need Help in Eagle Mountain
Hello all, we just moved to Utah (the eagle mountain area) and I'm trying hard to find places to target shoot outdoors. I understand there is a temporary ban in some area's, however I was hoping someone could assist in places near Eagle Mountain that are ok still, and perhaps some that will be good once the ban is removed.

I would GREATLY appreciate a google maps link to an overhead view of the exact spots, I don't know the area at all yet

Thanks so much!

Welcome to FTF. I would suggest calling around to local sportsman clubs and/or the state police for information. Sorry I can't be more help.

Your quite a bit further south than me, so i don't know much about your neck of the woods.
Try these guys:

You might want to ask the guys at your local gun shops as well.

I was thinking of calling BLM and asking at Cabelas's, I've googled it like nuts and can't find anything "exact", people speak in generalities but I'd like exact locations

bad update for you and im sorry, btw this is a copy paste that im putting on multiple forums because it makes me feel better

with the recent all out ban of shooting in my favorite spot for the next 2 years where should i go now, i like to be outdoors, i like to have the weather hitting me and i like to go out and relax with a few hundred rounds downrange after a hard day of work, i used to go west of utah lake,

havent shot my mosin in 3 months and was really looking forward to the end of the fire ban
(have cleaned the rifle 4 times just because i wanted to get it out) actually ive cleaned all my weapons multiple times... they are dust free

so what is a good open air place i can go to shoot, i live in riverton, looking for somthing less then a 40 minute drive thats open at least untill 7pm

ksl of course has buried the story but here is a link

Due west from Eagle Mtn, pull off one of the dirt roads (west side) on highway 36. It's been a couple years since we've been out there so I'm not sure if there's a ban. I believe it is mostly BLM land but don't hold me to it. Wish I could be of more help and welcome to Utah. If you can survive the rest of this Bewlsh!t summer, autumn is usually fantastic around here. Good luck.

Talk to the people who would arrest you and charge you with a crime if you shot someplace illegally where you may shoot legally. (Call the local sheriff's office.)

For what it's worth, I know what you're going through. I've called just about every authority I can think of in Western/Central New York State to ask where I can shoot a .223 and no one really knows. Some folks say have at it, other folks say you'll get arrested.

That's what I love so much about government regulations. No one really knows squat.

Now I just shoot on private land. It's a lot simpler that way.

I may have some good news, I found this on the Sheriff's website:

it states

There are several roads leaving SR 68 (Redwood) heading west from mile marker 20, 17 and 4, leading to Allen's Ranch Road, Broad Canyon, Chimney Rock Road and the Elberta Slant Road, all of which have some good areas for shooting with suitable hills for a back stop.

When compared to the BLM interactive map

it looks like that area is nowhere near the Saratoga ban area...and it's clearly BLM
