I shoot at quiet little spot in the local woods. I sometimes use a local range but the range fees along with the ammo shortage turned me off going there regularly as they insisted I buy their ammo and they never seem to have what I want to shoot.

If it rains I pop up a canopy at the back of my SUV so weather is never a problem. I enjoy the privacy and peace of the woods over organized ranges plus it's free.

I do miss the camaraderie you see at organized ranges, for example chatting to guys about their guns and then sometimes being offered to shoot them. I don't miss the rare know-it-all guy that shows up and feels the need to lecture you on something or give you advice you didn't ask for...thankfully they are few and far between.

Its basically a cop range. It's run by the city and county sheriffs office. The feds, locals for a good 50 mile radius and state all use it. Unless there is a class going on only qualified LE shooters allowed on the range and each is only allowed 1 guest whom they are responsible for. No RSOs outside of classes or in service. We police ourselves. And we practice what the heck we want. Steps of the draw, firing from the hip, tactical reloads, reflexive shooting, moving and shooting, all the stuff most private RSOs would $%*^ themselves over.

I have two ranges almost the same distance from me. Rabbit Creek to the south of me around mile 118 of the Seward Highway , or the Birchwood Range about 3 miles North of the Glen Highway at mile 21.
