what's up, fellow texans?

i have a question i was hoping someone might be able to answer. my apologies if this topic has been covered recently.

i have heard from numerous gun owners that it is now legal to carry a loaded firearm in your vehicle, without a concealed license to carry.

is this true? can someone give me a credible source from the government or law enforcement? the reason i ask, is that i now have a friend who does this. i'm not sure if he researched this or not.

It's called the Castle Doctrine,it was enacted several years ago by the Tx.legislature.

i thought it only appllied to home and property (land). is there a reliable link that can confirm it applies to a vehicle?

Before Texas adopted concealed carry, a person was allowed to carry a handgun in his vehicle if he was "traveling". At that time, the weapon was NOT supposed to be concealed. Where the law was a little 'murky' was in the definition of "traveling". There were several versions to what it meant, anywhere from outside your city of residence to two counties away from your home county. Seems it was kinda up to whatever DA had jurisdiction & what he considered traveling to be. Obviously a bad deal. So, the concealed carry laws have pretty well helped even the folks that do not desire to conceal carry.
