They had some high end 1911s when they first opened, but I haven't seen any there recently.

One negative about them is that if they claim they'll take your name and number to call you (if they are too busy to answer a question over the phone) - they will NEVER call you back... It really is super irritating. I have missed guns this was more than once, because I can't get a simple question answered (if they have a certain item).

I then drive all the way out there after calling several times, and i miss the gun by like 5 minutes.

We are up in Conroe and we have the best prices available. We have very low overhead and our prices are negotiable when possible.

Collector's Firearms is very expensive. I bought a Springfield Champion Operator from there for almost $200.00 above regular price. Because for one, no one else in town had it and also cause they have a 90 day lay-a-way plan. I guess I paid more for the convenience. Carter's Country has a large variety but no where close to Collector's Firearms. Gun shows are not a good place to buy guns either. They will not budge from the high prices they have. On line is where I have seen them cheaper. Not all firearm sites but Gunsamerica.com have good prices. You have to shop around on the site to find what you want with a decent price. But be ready to pay 100% up front.

I've spent lots of time gawking in collectors.

Never stepped foot into Carter's after several bad experiences with rude employees via phone.

Jim Pruetts(sp) out on Huffmeister is ok, kinda pricey.

I've been to Tactical Firearms(only once while my wife was picking up her wedding dress next door) while we were in town, VERY nice selection and awesome customer service! Even when I told them I wasn't buying but was just "killing time" the gentleman who was helping me was beyond helpful and quite knowledgeable. Asked what kind of shooting I like, recommended several guns to consider for my next purchase, overall HIGHLY recommend to anyone in the area! I would make them "my" shop if we still lived in Houston/Texas
I have had several bad experiences with employees as well. Do you go to the Pasadena store as well?

about half way in between Houston and Dallas on Interstate 45 in Buffalo Texas there is a small gun store about a mile off the interstate called Buffalo Sporting Goods on Commerce St. very good people and very good prices. i shop there quite a bit and highly recommend it to anyone.

if you are traveling down I-45 and have the time to stop, it worth the visit.

I will take that advice! Heading to Richland Chambers to fish this weekend and will divert to Buffalo to check them out.
