Default Xd >/< 1911

My buddy just traded his Springfield 1911 for a Springfield XD 45. He wanted to stay Springfield, which is fine. But I told him he probably shouldn't have done it because personally I don't think an XD shoots better than a 1911. But he said really wanted an XD and if it was legal in Cali he would have gotten an XDm. Aye or nay FTF?

I like my XD and wish your buddy could get the extra 3 rounds of the OEM 13 round magazines.

Having an XD in addition to a 1911, sure. Trading away a functional (I'm assuming) 1911 for one, not so much. But then, I don't know the priorities at work here. Whatever gets it done for him.

Whatever gets it done for him. My sentiments exactly.

i love my xdm 45 he is definatly not ungunned with it. if he traded straight across used for new its wash price wise. i think he woulda been wiser to save for one than trade his 1911 off. if he paid money on the trade he got ripped

my xdm shoots just as good as my 1911s

Yeah he didn't pay anything but it was used for used. His 1911 had MAYBE a hundred rounds through it and the XD has God knows how many through it.

Wow he got robbed. Used xd pistols are a dime a dozen my local gun shop almost always has 3 or 4 of them but hardly ever used 1911's

If he had traded for a used XDm he might have come out with a fair deal, but for a used XD he came out on the losing end of the deal.
