Gaston has stated publicly that he does not believe civilians should own handguns. He tried to make them LE/Military only when they first imported them into the US. The importer convinced Herr Glock that they would never catch on unless civilians bought them first. He begrudgingly allowed them to be sold to civilians but set up a tiered pricing scheme to make non LE people pay a premium for the priveledge of owning a Glock.
I will not support a man who openly opposes our 2nd Ammendment, yet makes an additional profit because of it.

Thanks for sharing robo, I didn't know that. That is yet another reason that I will never buy one.

I never knew that either.......
Can you provide some references for that?
I'm about ready to boycott anything even close to being a Glock...lol.

I have had a couple of Glocks, models 34 and 19. The 19 was bought new off Gunbroker from a dealer for $475 about three months ago. Prices for Glocks and many other pistols were inflated since the last election but seem to be coming down.
I am no Glock lover (I actually prefer a SW 6906 for a 9mm double stack carry pistol) but do appreciate the pistol for what it is- a reasonably priced tool for self defense- light and easy to carry, reasonably accurate and very reliable. It may be priced slightly higher than some of its polymer competitors but is still quite reasonably priced when compared to metal framed pistols. While not for everyone, a Glock pistol is a good choice for many people.
best wishes- oldandslow

I think part of the cost is do to design. Glocks' patented trigger system for one. I'm not saying it's a better or worse trigger than whoever, but it is unique. And Glock was the first to become popular with plastic guns.
