Some of us 1911 guys simply don't care what you carry. I have and still carry a .38 snubbie, and XD40SC in addition to my DW CCO. I'd carry a 9 mm if I had one appropriate for concealed carry. Hell, I've considered buying a .380 once or twice. People make way too much noise over this subject.
We're not talking about the secret of cold fusion here, just that same old, same old.

But after decades of buying, shooting, and carrying a large variety of handguns, I have learned that the most important factor is the guy doing the shooting and not the make, model, caliber of the gun. Hitting some perp in the elbow with a .45 will NOT produce better results than hitting him in the Aorta with a 9MM. I personally lean toward .40 S&W, but also have some .45 ACP, .45 Colt ("Long Colt"), .44 Spl, .44 Mag, .41 Mag, evan the lowly .38 Spl handguns, and carry what I consider to be the best fit for where I'm going and what I plan to do. But the 9MM, when properly applied (including hitting a vital spot), is plenty of "stopping power".

I think the quote above is spot on! I love my .45 and I own several 1911's but I still work for a living and have to interact with the public and the local police and security officials and the 1911 is just too much gun for me to lug around for 8/10 hours. So I have chosen a compact 9mm as my daily CC its a matter of ounces vs 2 1/2 lbs. hanging off my already overweight frame So in my opinion the best ccw is the one you're going to have with you when a weapon is needed. I have a 1911 on my nightstand and another in my truck but but for al day every day its too much for me!

Because most folks in that forum do believe that a 1911 is the only handgun worth carrying. I'm not one of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying shot placement isn't the most important aspect of defensive shooting, it is, I am just saying there are better options out there or different needs.

A few words are exchanged and next thing you know the raging bull pulls out a (later to be found out) .25 caliber pistol and shoots the other fella in the face from two feet away. The guys head jerks back, he grabs at his profusely bleeding mouth and then spits, that's right, SPITS out the .25 caliber projectile that lodged in the roof of his mouth upon impact. Rare? Sure. But because of that crazy incident that I witnessed, I now carry .45.

The End.
All I'm gonna say it wasn't a 9mm

Most folks...1911...carrying? No, you're thinking of the 1911 forums. I suspect that it's mostly just stirring the pot. NTTAWWT

We're not saying it didn't happen, we just don't believe you. But I started this thread and said to kill it 90+ post ago. So someone do me the favor.
