My very first handgun was a Colt Navy 1864 black powder....got when I was either 18 or 19 was back in like 1980 or 1981...
It was a "replica" (since I very much wanted it to shoot vs just to collect). It was awesome fun to shoot and I still have it. Although I would never shoot it now. I put so many lead balls through it that parts literally started falling off. Would not be safe to shoot now.
This is a borrowed pic (not mine) but it looks exactly like this...

I'm thinking it was a PA63 in the early 90s.

1st was a S&W 6904. Man, do I ever miss that gun. Should have never sold her.

I've had a bunch of handguns since then including models by Ruger, Taurus, Glock, Kahr, S&W, etc. but, aside from my S&W 686+ Mountain Gun, nothing has ever been quite as good.

I'll get another one of those 6904s someday.

Mine was a Ruger MKI that was passed down through my family. Dated 1956. Then a Colt Series 70 Government Model 1911 came soon after.

My first hand was a Springfield armory .45 service model, all black and I would trust my life with it. It carries 13 rd mags but I purchased mag extension that increased the mag size to 16 rounds. I carried 3 mags in my bullet proof vest and 2 on my belt and one in the gun. I take it to the range 2 times a month. Gotta stay Sharp.
