First one I bought or first one I shot? First one I bought was a used S&W 29 in stainless with an 8 inch barrel. I would pick up a couple of boxes of 44 special target loads when my wife at the time wanted to shoot too. First pistol I ever shot was a Ruger MK 11 that belonged to my mothers boyfriend. I don't think a weekend went by when we weren't at the range together.

My first handgun was a Ruger P89. I screwed up and gave it as a Christmas present to a son-in-law. I have had dozens and dozens of handguns since then, but he still has the P89. Wish I had it back now.

S&W model 422, .22LR full size automatic. Way back in the day I worked for a summer to earn the money for it. I was too young so my dad had to get it for me. I don't know if they make them anymore but I loved that gun (still do!), not at all picky in ammo and a great shooter.

A surplus Remington Rand 1911 from the local hardware store. This might have been at a time when gun control was starting to rear it's ugly head.

As I recall, the store owner knew I wasn't old enough to drive yet so my dad had to call and okay the sale. The only condition was that the gun had to be in good enough shape that it could be rebuilt.Of course the hardware guy knew he had me over a barrel and by the time I got out the door with the gun,a new hammer,mainspring,re-coil spring and sear the old fart ripped me off for over $17 plus tax.If he hadn't thrown in 150 rounds of hardball I might never have shopped there again!!!

Default My First Handgun

My first handgun was a S&W 681. I then changed to a Colt 1911 and a Sig Sauer 220.

DownSouth: Rumor had it this was one cobbled together for WWII.They were all over the place in the late 50's and early 60's.The one my uncle got was I believe a Singer with a colt slide. This store had crates of 45's and M1's,and a mess of surplus ammo.

The answer is older than dirt but my lady lies and says I'm still good lookin,I just can't see the little dots in the middle of the target anymore.
