That nano vault the one that says gun safe on the box, won't hold a glock 19 without taking out foam. Tried and it's a sob to close. Ended up returning it trying find another one. Unless you take foam out but then it's not supported.

The nanovault brand one I have will hold my XD45 tactical (5") and one extra mag, but it is kinda tight, and I do have a copy of MS permit-free, vehicle carry law wrapped over the slide. My lil Bersa 9mm fits much better, but I think a 5" barrel is the max for the little box.

Any way, no matter what the situation i cannot leave your loaded firearm accessible to ANYONE period, let alone someone that is not aware of the proper handling. Any time I HAND a firearm to someone that never has, I tell them it's loaded. They typically place it right down, it's then I would tell them that us how to treat every firearm as though it were loaded.

And with most states eagerly to take away our gun rights these days, leaving one in a car where it can get stolen and then used in a crime, can be a no no to the owner. JMHO

...as to your last question... RUGER SR or P series highly recommended; http://www.ruger.com/index.html
If you're going to carry, than carry it for goodness sake. Your guns should be either on you or safely locked away.

This,...Tell people to not pick stuff up in your car. I think I'd just let them out somewhere if they where stupid enough to do it anyway...
And a Glock is plenty able pt sit in a car.

I've got this box. Gun & holster both won't fit.

I keep a Glock 19 in the car at all times. It usually stays in a little gun safe under the seat because I'm commuting or running errands. When I drive through bad parts of town, am on a business trip, or don't have a CCW on me, then it gets holstered under the steering column. I get past the safety by employing the Safe-T-Lok available through the Glock Store. It stays in place and simply pushes out with a push of the trigger finger. I feel very comfortable knowing I have one in the chamber with this system. Plus, I have a little dehumidification device in the gun locker under the seat to keep moisture off the gun. Unless you live in the Sahara, you will not have any trouble with temperature extremes. I always use sun shades which hold down the temperatures considerably.
