Default Web Site Question

Sorry guys wasn't sure wich forum to post this in so just picked one. Has any one used the site Guns4pennies.com? Seen there add in Guns and Ammo, and checked out their site. Seems to me you buy the bids to bid on items. Still not sure how they'd make any profit selling some of em at the prices they say ones have gone for. Any info would be appreciated

They make the profit from buying the bids. Let's say 100 bids cost 50 bucks which is about normal for these types of sites. If you have 10 people buy a 100 bids @ $50 bucks that's $500 dollars they made before anyone bids on an item. Even if you get the item at 90% below cost it may take 200 bids and people get crazy with these types of sites and buying bids. Personally I think the site is bidding on their own items to drive up the cost of the item but also to get more people to buy bids. It's the same type of setup as beezid and quibids. Unless you get really lucky and bid once you are going to have to spend some money regardless of what the final cost of the item is.

http://www.guns4pennies.com/auctions/HK-P30-40-Cal-3308 so this sold for $64.45 so that's 6,445 bids. Now if it's 25 cents per bid based on their bid package price they sold this gun for 1,611.25 + 64.45 = $1,675.70.

I think it's a scam, in a sense...the bids are likely manipulated through accounts, allowed to be bidding for free, so the "excitement" of the auction is staged. When people see the guns for sale so cheap, they buy a block of bids, which goes directly into the pockets of the company, and each gun could sell for $0, and still make money.

I don't know if they do now, but they used to give free 10-20 bids. How could they possibly do that without some sort of manipulation. I would steer clear, and leave it to the guys who only have $40 to spend on an HK 45 LEM. At the end of the day the site makes $2-3K on a gun like that.

The turnover on customers is where they make good money.. Full page ads in the shotgun news doesn't hurt driving business to the site.

its a variation of slot machine theory. guy X puts 3 coins in a slot machine and wins the jackpot. to him he just won 10,000$ for 3$. to the casino that slot machine took in 45,000$ before it paid the jackpot.

so a bunch of doofuses see a guy buy a gun for 4$ and think geeeee that was easy. then they spend thousands to buy a mosin 91/30 for 50 cents...

casinos frequently give away free pulls on slot machines. much like drugs the first one is free.
