Walther P22 Pistol
Anyone any experience with the .22lr Walther P22 pistol, standard pistol or target version. They apparantly sell the target barrel and muzzle shroud seperately?............;)

I've shot the Walther P22 pistol with the 4" barrel, and boy what a shooter! I had nothing but good experience with it. It is easy to load the magazine and holds a very tight group. I like it's light weight, and my wife, who has carpal tunnel in her wrists loves it. Wants me to buy her one. Although the .22 is kind of small for terms of self defense, I would not be afraid to let her have this as a SD pistol since she can hold such tight groups with it. Shot placement is very important, and this baby can put them in a tight enough group to discourage any would be attacker. You don't want to be shot with a .22 It is still a dangerous little round in capable hands.

Easy to operate, no recoil, accurate, fun, cheap. Its a great plinker but I wouldnt reccomend it for SD unless its the only gun you can get a woman to carry and use on a daily basis. If she doesnt like it, she wont carry it.

Thanks guys I appreciate the input I haven't seen one in the flesh but the option of the spare barrel assemby was appealing, as you may be aware moderators are not restricted here. Believe it or not the 'Health and Safety' issue of noise polution is gaining ground and even full bore hunting rifles are being fitted with them, although we have used them on out .22lr rifles for years...............;)

I have shot a couple hundred rounds through my brother and law's P22. It is incredibly accurate and fun to shoot. The take-down kinda sucks though.

I love my P22. It gets a brick of WallyWorlds cheapest run through it every week. No issues.

At first it was "so-so" with cheap ammo, which was irritating as I have several friends with P22's and theirs ran perfectly. Mine has now joined the reliability club. For the first month, I left the slide locked back to help the spring take a set.

How does it compare to a Ruger Mk2?
The Ruger has been my favourite affordable .22 for a long time, but people keep raving to me about P22s...
