Looks like "None of These" is winning by more than a nose. There is a reason, but you won't know, for yourself, until you go to a range and put some rounds through plenty of pistols. Some pistols just FEEL better in your hands.

I used to think the sun rose and set on the handguns from SIG - now you won't find me ever carrying anything other than a 1911.

Until you put some rounds downrange, you can't expect the folks here to suggest a pistol to you. There are just too many variables.

Your weight. If you weigh a buck "O" five, you probably don't need a cannon.

Your hand size. If you have small hands, a double stack magazine is going to be a problem for you.

Your thoughts on defense. WHAT are you trying to do with this weapon? Are you willing to use it? Or do you want a deterent to crime and hope you never have to use it?

Your background with weaponry in general. Do you have experience with different sorts of weapons, ammunition, moving parts, recoil, muzzle flip. etc.

How diligent are you are cleaing your room, or washing your car? You may laugh, but it leads into how attentive you will be AFTER shooting your weapon and cleaning it correctly, stowing it correctly and maintaining what you paid for correctly.

You need to get to a range, pay the all day, all gun rental fee and see what you like. Then, when you have narrowed it down to a smaller field, ask for a survey or for some direct feedback.

Default favourite handgun, bar none

Ruger Security Six. Yah, lame name, just a good solid .357 that you can hit a quarter with at 25 yds and goes bang every time. Think about that .40 shooters.

Seems like you arbitrarily limited the choices, and left out several excellent handguns.
My favorite for on-duty use is a Colt Combat Commander, 45acp, stainless, loaded with Black Talon. My off-duty weapon is a factory-tunes, ultra-smooth firing, S&W Model 66-2, 2-1/2", loaded with Hydrashok ammo.

For the money and with the information you have provided, I would buy the new Kahr CW9 9mm 3.5" stainless with polymer frame for about $400. Leaves enough for a good carry holster and ammo.
