Hey,
I'm new here and am looking for a semi-automatic pistol, should be able to conceal under standard clothes but not too small.
For caliber choice, I am probably going to go with a 9mm because of the cost of cheap practice ammunition. honestly a 9mm loaded with some hydra shocks or equivalent should be enough to stop someone or definitely change there priorities, but if you feel another caliber would be better feel free to speak your opinion.
Price must be under $650
I forgot to add in the poll that if you have other suggestions please post them,
I mainly want reliability, and accuracy!
Used Guns would be a possibility.
Thanks |

Hello all
RON L here = SERESURPLUS
you all missed a few of the Big ones, and my Favs:
1. Colts/Browning 1911A1 in 45ACP or .38 SUPER
2. Brownings High Power design in 9MM/ and all clones of such'
3. S&W Model 10 or many other K Frame designs in .38 SPCL, no reason it's gotta be an Semi-Auto to be best! |

I also voted for a pistol not included in your poll. Sig pistols meet your criteria and are a joy to shoot and carry. Small Sigs that are available in 9mm and can be bought used in great shape include the p-239 and the p-6 (a large number of German police trade-ins are now available for the $300 range). And don't overlook the 3rd generation Smith and Wessons- they are light, reliable, accurate and also can be had used for the $300-400 range- I like the 3913 or 6906.
I also own a CZ 75 compact and a Beretta 92 clone. The CZ is great but a bit heavy to carry all day- look at the CZ PCR which is aluminum framed and lighter. The Beretta 92 type pistol is a great weapon, just a little too large to carry for me. For the Glock I like the model 19. I don't have enough experience with the other choices to comment on them. Good luck.

Since you said you'd prefer a 9mm, my first choice might be a Para-Ordnance P18-9, but to keep it under your price limit, you'd have to buy a used one.
My 2nd choice (and really a close first) would be the Taurus PT-92/99. It looks like the Beretta 92, but it has the safety in the CORRECT place, on the frame, and not the slide, so it works just like the 1911, where up is safe, and down is "fire." This is more natural in my point of view. The differences, the PT-92 has a fixed sight, the PT-99, has an adjustable sight, both have a capacity of 17+1, if your state of residence allows it.
And before anyone starts tearing the Taurus down, I've owned a Taurus PT-92 for over 17 years. During that time, I've never had a single jam or misfire. It goes "bang" every time I pull the trigger, and the groups I get are pretty good. __________________ Big Gay Al
