tough choice .
I'm looking at a browning medalist in good shape for $750 or a new Camper for 3.50.
What do you all think .

The choice between a m41 and anything else is no choice at all. The 41 always wins. Always.

The 41 is the very finest American made .22 pistol, bar none. You would have to get into a high end European pistol to surpass the S&W

What about a high standard victor . What are your thoughts on this gun . Does it come close to a 41 ?

I'll disagree with robocop on the 41 being the "finest" "bar none". I've owned 41s and my father still has one. They are certainly fine guns. But the early Hamden High Standard Victors are what a good portion of 22 bullseye shooters consider to be the absolute best. The design was ahead of its time and superior to the 41. The 1911 grip angle makes the Victor feel like the warm handshake of an old friend. The trigger is better than the 41 as well. Having owned several 41s and Victors in the past, the Victors are clearly the superior pistol in my experience. I sold the 41s and kept the Victors as well as added a few more early High Standards.

My father also has a Medalist that is unfired and in a presentation case. It is truly a thing of beauty. No experience with how it shoots though.

Ya I bought a high standard victor a cupla years ago . Its a hamden gun . I think shipped in 74 .
I could have bought a 41 at the time for $75 more but I have always had a thing for the victor so I bought that.
Pluse I have seen more 41s for sale up here, but haven't come across another victor yet

That's another reason for my love of High Standard. They make more 41s every day, but there are only so many Hamden HS guns and there will never be any more.

I also have a soft spot for the 107 Supermatic Trophy. I have a pair of 7.25" with full barrel weights and a 5.5" with weight and factory compensator. It doesn't get shot though.
