Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

For me a 9mm is more about a carry type weapon. For a range or competition gun I prefer a 1911 in .45.

My list just from my thought process...

1) HK P7m8. If I had to go to just keeping one gun this is the one I would keep. For me it's only drawbacks for a CCW are that it's a bit heavy, a bit too expensive to get bashed around on a daily basis, and it's a 9mm. And it only holds 8+1.

2)Browning HP for all the obvious reasons. CCW drawbacks are size, though it is certainly do-able. And I have too much money in mine (built for me by Novak's back in 94') to bash around daily.

3) Sig 239. Great 9 for CCW and in general. Only CCW downside is 8+1 capacity.

4) Wilson's Ms. Sentinel (or the similar SA or Kimber models). I wish they called it a LW Sentinel. What a great package. Downside : PRICE, 8+1 capacity.

5) Ruger LC9 (or similar Kahr or maybe the Kimber Solo) The name says it. Light, Compact, and a 9. This has probably filled the everyday carry slot for me. I like mine a lot. Downside is the thumb safety that is difficult to engage, though very easy to flip off, and the long trigger action, though for a non professional CCW it's probably an asset. 7+1 capacity.

The G17 Gen4 is number one for me. My dad went out and got the xdm 9mm in the 3.8 inch barrel and that is a nice gun to it will always be personal preference.

I like the CZ 75. It is very accurate and reliable. If you ever get the opportunity shoot it and you will know what I'm talking about. One of my carry weapons is the P-01. No problems ever and very very accurate.

In no real particular order, my five favorite 9s
1) Glock 17/19-I have carried one or the other of these for years. I've beat the snot out of them, abused them, exposed them to the elements and every kind of cheap ammo I could find, and they always go bang. Are they sexy? No. Are the reliable? Yes.
2) CZ 75 (or any of its variants; B, D, whatever) This gun is a real pleasure to shoot. Very accurate out of the box, and very comfortable. Almost anyone that has held mine has remarked about how good it feels
3) Sig 229 I think the 229 is a good combination of some of the positive traits of the Glock and CZ, reliable and comfortable, but the Sig has an added bonus: it's sexy as hell.
4) Beretta 92 FS-For all of the aforementioned reasons.
5) Browning Hi-Power- do I really need to explain?
