They can dump the loaded chamber indicator as well. Those are for people that don't understand proper gun safety. And they are no replacement for a visual check besides.
I have a 22/45. I just checked it. It does not have any safety other than the manual one. It does fire with the mag out. Mine is probably less than 10 years old.
