Taurus PT-22 spare mag wont lock in

but the stock mag works just fine . I compared them both and i didnt see anything wrong or different from the stock mag. spare just doesn't lock in it will fit fine just not lock . any ideas?

Never mind , I found the problem. And I know everyone is big on pics here so ...... :D

Just in case anyone has a similar problem , the recess / Lip in the upper front part of the mag was to high in the aftermarket mag and it was catching on something indicated by paint scuffing in the same area and comparison to the stock mag. So i put the mag in a vice ground it down with a dremel metal grinder piece in my cordless drill and once i ground the lip on the front of the mag down a bit it locked in perfect.

Hope this helps someone

Dont shoot any Vipers, Stingers or similar hot rounds in it. They kill the warranty and will break the pistol. For reliability dont load more than 8 rnds in the mags. Mine lasted 19 years before it broke. They replaced it for free. 1 of the 2 good Taurus guns out of the 4 I had.

I shoot primarily 40 gr round nose CCI mini mags out of it . and does it matter if your not the original purchaser to replace or fix it if its malfunctioning? do you need a receipt?

Of course, you do know the difference between a "clip" and "magazine".

Most of the .22 magazines are damaged by improperly loading. Most do not load like a centerfire caliber.

Can you clarify for me, trying to learn. What do you mean by "Most do not load like a centerfire caliber." Do you mean the rounds don't load in the magazine the same or the magazine doesn't load into the pistol the same? And if different, how so?

I'm sorry. I'm the woman of a thousand questions. :(

And I am proud to say I DO know the difference between a magazine and a clip. :D
