does anyone have a setup where you have a single handgun but then different springs and barrels for it where you are able to drop in the different parts fairly quick and shoot a number of different calibers? i was thinking a really cool setup would be something where you had a nice durable 1911 type handgun that had drop in conversion parts for you to fire .45, .40 and 9mm calibers. The only problem i would see might be the ejection port being sized properly for the different casings?

The EAA Witness series is about the most convertable that I'm aware of. They are CZ type guns made by Tanfoglio in Italy...

Sig P250... you can change not only the caliber but the action too... betwen DAO and SA/DA just changin the fire control unit

I've got a Sig P226 that alternates between .357sig and 40s&w with nothing more than a barrel change, since the .357 uses a .40 case. That's about as easy as conversions come (and barrels can be found for $150, give or take), but this is because one caliber isn't much of a departure from the other. For the same gun I've also got a magazine and top end to shoot 22lr.

All said, I've got about $1000 into a Sig that shoots three calibers. Not too bad.
