Default Sterling Auto .25 problem

My wife just received a .25 Sterling Auto from her sister. I tore it down to clean it and noticed the safety was pulled out from the frame and it will not cock. It will load a cartridge into the chamber but will not cock or fire. I have checked and cannot seem to find a way to slide the safety back into the frame. I think this has to be the problem but I'm not sure as I'm kinda an amateur at this.
Does anyone know what could be wrong or where I could find an exploded view or owners manual showing the parts?
Thanks in advance, John

Take a ten# hammer, make sure it's unloaded.

Beat it flat. Toss it in the scrap pile.

Buy a quality gun.

Why do you feel it necessary to list your guns?

Run a search for page 7b and you can look up the sterling 402 there. It is the .22lr version. page7b is at steve's pages. Run the search from you front page not here.

Thanks Hardluk1,
I figured it out with the help of the pics. There's a flat spot on the safety pin that goes into the frame. It needs to be rotated until it slides in and locks. I took the slide off to be able to see it.
Thanks again, John

Same thing happened to me with my Sterling .22lr. Took a while to figure out.

I must say willfully armed's reply ain't half bad, I don't know why I've kept my Sterling, it's basically a single shot.

Took it back to the range and out of 2 clips, it jammed 3 times. It's gone away now back to it's original owner to do with whatever.
Bought the wife a Glock 19 and she loves it.
