Around $600 max, less welcome. Found Taurus has a double action, close but no cigar.

What I mean by 1911 like is similar in style, but with shorder barrel. Perhaps the term wouod be more compact.

I shouldve been more clear. I dislike the length of 1911 barrels so I want something shorter, but with the similar look, with hammer.

The tactical 9mm is the midsize model, you always have a chance of FTF problems with 1911s with a barrel length shorter than 4". I think that the tactical has a 4.5" barrel

If you check out centerfiresystems.com they have some shorter 1911 9mms. Free shipping and inexpensive too!. RIA 9mms are actually pretty solid. But like Wray said, the commander and operator length 1911's do have some ftf problems. Just get some high quality mags to remedy that

DefaultHere's a 3 1/2" Wilson

Buds don't have them in stock but here's a Wilson 3 1/2 barrel compact you can probably find one somewhere although I am pretty sure it's gonna be a bit pricey

Consider a Browning Hi Power ?? Should be able to find a used one in your price range.

It's pretty much the evolution of the 1911.

I had mine built by Novaks back in '95 and I love it. My GF also loves it and thinks I should give it to her. I told her if she gets her CC License I will consider it, though I would probably get her a different one as I am pretty attatched to mine.

Another vote for Browning Hi-Power. Excellent handgun.
