Sig Sauer P220 fact based opinions?

Hi. I am fortunate to have a number of guns by some of the better manufacturers- Kimber (older), H&K, S&W, etc..., so no need to sway me to another brand.

My question is about Sig Sauer overall, and I am looking at a P220 Elite Carry- .45ACP. Can any of you that have fired this gun tell me about your prception of quality, accuracy, fit/finish, etc... any issues?

Anyone aware of articles in the gun mags on this gun? Perhaps a shootout comparison with other similar models?

Thanks.

While I have not fired the P220 Elite Carry, I have fired both new and old Sig Sauer pistols, including the P220, P220R, P226 in .357SIG, P239, and the new P250 in 9mm.

IMHO, the Sig Sauer pistols I have used have been top shelf quality and I would not hesitate to purchase one for sport or defense.

Sig Sauer likes to say that they are known by the company they keep. Here are some of the law enforcment/military agencies that trust the Sig Sauer brand:

U.S. Navy SEALs
U.S. Navy SWCC
U.S. Federal Air Marshals
U.S. Secret Service
U.S. Coast Guard

British SAS
Colombia: CNP 12,000 pistols; Army 800 precision rifles
France: over 250.000 SIG SAUER pistols in use by Police Nationale, Gendarmerie, and Douanes

I own a 226, and my dad has a 220, and I can't say enough about them. If you have the cash, go buy one tomorrow.

I own a p-220 that i have carried for the past 6 years as a deputy sheriff. This gun is the only gun i own that has never jamed or failed to fire for any reason. I owned the gun for approx 15 years before i became a deputy. In my opinion you are getting one of the best, if not the best handguns made. But thats just me.

I'm a single action person, but wouldn't hesitate to own or carry a Sig if I were required to use a DAO or SA/DA piece.

I own a P228 in 9mm, and have shot both a p229 in .40 and a P220 in .45. Simply put, they're fantastic pistols that are well-made and durable. They don't fit my hands very well, but everyone is different. If it feels good to you, by all means pick it up; you will not be disappointed

I carry a P 220 Carry (not Elite Carry), I own several others as well. The P220C is very comfortable to shoot with managable recoil, accuracy is good and I have never had a malfunction. My only criticism of it is that there was a slight drag on the trigger when I first got it, armorer said that the trigger mechanism was contacting the frame. It was an easy fix. Over-all I like it, not as much as my 1911, but I like it.

Good to see all the SIG fans. I love my P220. A very comfortable weapon.
